Weifang University of Science and Technology is a full-time application-oriented general undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education of China and established by the Shouguang Municipal People’s Government. It is a pilot university in the Weifang National Vocational Education Innovation and Development Pilot Zone, a pilot university for oriented training of non-commissioned officers, is applying for the construction of a master's degree university and is the first batch to receive support from Shandong Province for the construction of applied undergraduate universities. The University is located in Shouguang, a city known as “Chinese Vegetable Town” and “City of Chinese Sea Salt”. The campus, covering 2400 mu (about 160 hectare) of which the building area amounts to over 1,160,000 square meters, embracing facilities and equipment for teaching and research valuing over 200 million RMB, and the library has over 1.6 million books. The university has more than 31,000 full-time students and nearly 2,000 faculty members, Yin Weilun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed as a professor and honorary president. Experts and scholars such as Professor Li Tianlai, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, joined the school and introduced doctoral supervisors such as Prof.Zhang Youxiang, Prof.Cui Xihai, Prof.Li Qiang, Prof.Song Yu and other professors.
